President Christodoulides underlines importance of TechIsland initiative

President Nikos Christodoulides underlined the government’s appreciation for the trust shown by TechIsland members in the government.
He was speaking at the TechIsland Awards 2023, an event paying tribute to those using their resources and influence to bring real change in Cyprus’ communities.
Among other things, Christodoulides said that technology and innovation were a cornerstone of the state’s plans for the economy of the nation. He also noted that the mandate of the Head Scientist had been extended to encompass technology.
He continued that a resilient and stable economy was crucial to supporting any sector including technology.
Christodoulides mentioned the Vision 2035 plan for the economy, also noting that other initiatives supporting Cyprus as an investment destination were also supported by the state.
He said that the government had taken note of the concerns raised in a recent roundtable discussion with foreign investors. Christodoulides revealed that a return to the roundtable would take place in October, adding that the state considered foreign investors to be its best ambassadors.
Effectively communicating the unique attributes of Cyprus would contribute to attracting new investment, the President said, inviting attendees in the tech sector to share their input on Cyprus’ best approach to creating its brand in this direction.
