RSL Revolutionary Labs Ltd named Rising Star at TechIsland Awards 2023

RSL Revolutionary Labs Ltd has won the coveted Rising Star prize at the TechIsland Awards 2023.

Irene Piki, Deputy Minister to the President, and Angelos Gregoriades, Chair of the Executive Committee of TechIsland, presented the award to Dr. Marianna Prokopi-Demetriades.

This award was presented at the inaugural TechIsland Awards, taking place in Limassol, and followed a musical interlude with entertainment by novaYA, the world's first opera diva who marries the mesmerizing tones of an opera voice with the futuristic vibes of a laser harp.

CBN is on site to provide live coverage of the prestigious event throughout the Awards ceremony, at an event paying tribute to all those who are using their resources and influence to bring about real change in Cyprus’ communities, from education and social actions to policy reforms.

Also nominated in the category celebrating Rising Stars of Cyprus tech were EMBIO Diagnostics and Prisma Labs.

Ahead of presenting the Award to RSL Revolutionary Labs Ltd., Gregoriades noted, “Startups symbolise a beacon of hope and innovation. I'm very happy that, over the past few years, we've witnessed the startup ecosystem in Cyprus grow rapidly. Tonight, we acknowledge the Cypriot startups that stand as testament to the island’s potential to cultivate a dynamic and innovative ecosystem. These innovative companies demonstrate that establishing global enterprises from this island isn't just a possibility—it's happening now.”

Presenters Andreas Araouzos and Melanie Steliou, meanwhile, noted that it was crucial to zoom in on the vision and drive of Dr. Marianna Prokopi-Demetriades since, under her leadership, RSL Revolutionary Labs has developed cutting-edge skin care formulas that are now providing relief and healing for cancer patients not just in Cyprus but also in Austria and Greece, thanks to newly secured distribution contracts.

They also noted that Dr. Prokopi-Demetriades is also the a co-founder of three rapidly ascending biotech firms. Her endeavors in Theramir Ltd have paved the way for early-stage breast cancer diagnosis through liquid biopsies, raising the company's value from 2 million to 20 million in five years. Dr. Prokopi-Demetriades is making a real difference in healthcare, tackling critical issues from cancer to wound care. She's won global awards, been highlighted in major publications, and built a diverse yet focused portfolio.

Accepting the Award, Prokopi-Demetraides said, “ “This evening will remain in our memories as a testament to innovation and excellence.”

She said the company was a combination of innovation and compassion, in memory of those who have battled cancer.

She also said that the evening symbolised a brighter future for Cyprus. “Sixteen years ago today, I arrived in Cyprus for the first time and made a life-changing decision to stay,” Prokopi-Demetriades confided. She also said that the evening was not just about celebrating success but looking forward, to a brighter future through technology.
