The Island Private School of Limassol recognised as Future Shaper at TechIsland Awards

The TechIsland Awards has recognised The Island Private School of Limassol as the winner of the Future Shapers prize.

Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus Constantinos Herodotou, and the CEO of the University of Nicosia and member of the Board of Directors of TechIsland, Antonis Polemitis presented the prize to CEO of The Island Private School of Limassol, and a member of the TechIsland community, Alexander Shkuratov.

Ahead of presenting the award, Polemitis noted, “Education shapes the future. As the tech industry grows, it's imperative we nurture a culture of innovation and groom the tech visionaries and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Let's celebrate the companies and institutions shaping the sector with their programs and initiatives.”

Also nominated in the Future Shapers category were HackAdTech and Robolab.

CBN is on site to provide live coverage of the prestigious event throughout the Awards ceremony, at an event paying tribute to all those who are using their resources and influence to bring about real change in Cyprus’ communities, from education and social actions to policy reforms.

As noted by the event’s presenters, meanwhile, this year's Future Shapers award is a recognition of innovation, adaptability, and dedication, traits exemplified by The Island Private School of Limassol.

Alexander Shkuratov, is not only a tech entrepreneur with the innovative company Prodly, but also a visionary in the field of education, the presenters continued, going on to say that he saw the surge in relocated tech talent and their families coming to Cyprus. Recognizing the importance of a high-quality educational institution to cater to this new community, he rapidly adapted and expanded his Waldorf school's operations.

This endevour included securing funds, obtaining the necessary licenses, assembling a stellar team, and building a school campus—all within the record time of just 85 days—something the presenters suggested spoke volumes about Shkuratoc’s commitment and efficiency. This was no ordinary task; it was an achievement, made possible by his passion for education and a deep understanding of the tech community's needs, the presented said.

Accepting the award, Shkuratov said, “A US Secretary of Education once said ‘Today we prepare our students for jobs that do not yet exist.’” He continued that technology would be a big part of this future and that the school was working to help prepare its pupils to this end. He also noted that the school had doubled its campus over the summer and that 180 employees from some 30 countries were currently employed at the school.
