Study on establishing School of Marine Sciences in Larnaca completed, Rector announces

The Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology, Panayiotis Zaphiris, has announced the conclusion of a study on the possibility of establishing a University School of Marine Sciences, Technology and Sustainable Development in Larnaca.

In a post on the platform 'X' he points out that this 'ambitious initiative' aims to strengthen the academic capabilities in these areas, but also to contribute to the development of marine sciences and sustainable development.

The Rector notes that following the call of the President of the Republic and the Ministries of Education and Finance, 'we have worked in the last two months with great effort and dedication on the preparation of this specific comprehensive proposal, which will be presented to the competent bodies of the University in the next weeks."

Zaphiris thanks those who contributed to the effort, the members of his office and his research team as well as the "friends and colleagues inside and outside the University, for their valuable contributions that enriched our proposal."
