Cypriot artist Maria Ignatiou’s creation unveiled at Abu Dhabi’s Reem Mall

Cypriot visual artist and art consultant Maria Ignatiou’s art project, a gigantic light fixture called “Falcon’s flight”, has been unveiled at Abu Dhabi’s Reem Mall.

Maria Ignatiou was selected among a number of renowned international peers to create an art project for the imposing Reem Mall, Abu Dhabi’s latest iconic shopping destination.

Some of the world’s top visual artists had vied for the contract, proposing a series of monumental artworks that would symbolise the Emirate’s vision for the future.

The contract was eventually awarded to multiple award winner Ignatiou, for her monumental and ergonomic work “Falcon’s flight”.

In collaboration with Preciosa Lighting, a leading Czech manufacturer of Bohemian crystals, which is represented in Cyprus by the company Kivotos Luxury Lifestyle, Maria Ignatiou together with the Preciosa design team created a gigantic light fixture made of Bohemian crystals, which now decorates one of the entrances to Reem Mall.

Located at the centre of Al Reem island, the super-luxury mall cost $1.2 billion to build and spans 260,000 sq. m., with 190,000 sq. m. of retail space and 6,800 parking spaces.
