AEGEAN launches new Scholarship Programme cycle, looking for the next generation of pilots

AEGEAN announced the launch of a new cycle of its Pilot Scholarship Programme, inviting 40 young people pursuing a career in the aviation industry to apply.

The programme, which covers most of the total cost of the tuition fees required for obtaining an Integrated Commercial Pilot Licence, aims to create the next generation of pilots, supporting at the same time the development of the aviation sector in Greece.

Since 2018 Pilot Scholarship Programme has supported more than 180 young people to take their first steps in the industry. 90 of those candidates have already started their professional careers, as captains at AEGEAN and Olympic Air, while another 80 candidates are currently in training. In cooperation with two of the most recognised aviation schools in Greece, Global Aviation and Egnatia Aviation, AEGEAN ensures that the candidates receive the necessary theoretical and practical training to obtain their professional pilot license. The participants will continue their training on aircraft types at the new AEGEAN│CAE Flight Training Centre which opened its doors at the beginning of the year at the new technical base of the company. Upon completion of their studies, immediate professional career within AEGEAN and Olympic Air is ensured.

The program is a full-time course with a duration of 17 to 19 months and significantly facilitates the access of new talents to a demanding and high-cost career path, since the total cost of the tuition for a future pilot, including the type rating, exceeds 90,000 euros. AEGEAN’s total investment in the specific initiative exceeds

€7 million, while a similar initiative has been launched for Aviation Engineers.

Candidates may submit their applications until 31 December 2024 on the website of the programme here.

For more information on the detailed terms and conditions for participation in the Scholarship Programme, candidates can visit the website of AEGEAN here or contact the pilotscholarships@aegeanair.com.
