Parliamentary official: Vietnam wants to further develop ties with Cyprus in politics, investments and trade

Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam, President of the Council of Ethnic Minorities of the National Assembly of Vietnam, said his country wishes to further develop relations with Cyprus in the fields of politics, investments and trade, during an official visit to the Cyprus House of Representatives.
A delegation from the Vietnamese Council met with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Harris Georgiades, this week.
As he welcomed the parliamentary delegation from Vietnam, Georgiades said that Cyprus still remains a place of security, stability and cooperation, despite being a semi-occupied country located in the unstable region of the Middle East that it is currently in in a state of war.
He thanked Vietnam for its stance on the Cyprus issue and informed the delegation about the commitment of the Greek Cypriot side to the goal of resuming talks to achieve a solution that is based on the UNSC resolutions. Georgiades stressed the House of Representatives was ready to develop bilateral contacts with the National Assembly of Vietnam.
Nie Kdam expressed his country's will to further develop ties with Cyprus in the sectors of politics, trade and investments. He also informed the Cypriot side about the situation of the 54 ethnic minorities living in Vietnam.
The MPs agreed to initiate contacts between the two parliaments by establishing respective Friendship Groups.
The delegation from Vietnam also held a meeting with Representative of Armenian Religious Group at the House of Representatives, Vartkes Mahtessian, who informed them about the role of the three representatives of religious groups in the House of Representatives, with particular reference to their participation in the Parliamentary Committee on Education.
