Lewis Pugh: Commitment, resilience and adaptability is key in everything that we do

Lewis Pugh, renowned endurance swimmer and United Nations Patron of the Oceans, gave an inspiring keynote speech at the 15th Limassol Economic Forum, where he shared his remarkable journey of braving the most challenging waters on the planet, and drew parallels between his expeditions and the business world.

Known for his record-breaking swims in some of the most threatened ecosystems, Lewis delivered a powerful message on leadership, resilience, and the critical importance of environmental stewardship, while sharing his extraordinary experiences from the icy waters of the North Pole to a glacial lake on Mt Everest.

He highlighted the mental and physical challenges faced during his swims and the lessons learned in overcoming them – and how these can be applied to business.

For Pugh, commitment, resilience and adaptability is key in everything that we do – including business. The lessons learned, he said, can be applied to businesses that want to survive and prosper in the current era of uncertainty.

And referring to the urgent need for environmental action, Pugh said world leaders have an obligation to protect the planet and encourage their communities to take action to this end.
