Minister Panayiotou in Luxembourg for AGRIFISH

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Dr. Maria Panayiotou is in Luxembourg for the EU Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The discussions, which will be held on 21 and 22 October, will focus on fisheries and fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea for 2025.

The Ministers will also exchange views on their priorities regarding the preparation of the 24th Annual Session of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT), which will be held in Cyprus on 11-18 November, 2024.

The Council session will continue with a discussion of agricultural issues, including draft conclusions on the "Post-2027 Common Agricultural Policy with a focus on farmers".

Issues related to trade and challenges in the European Union's food chain will also be on the agenda.

The EU Ministers are also expected to discuss the need to draw up an integrated strategy for the management of climate risks and crises in agriculture.

The Minister of Agriculture returns to Cyprus on 22 October.
