Amazon Prime team in Cyprus after investing in reality show being filmed in Paphos

A team from Amazon Prime is currently in Cyprus as one of the reality shows it has invested in, the Danish version of Roast on the Coast, is filming in Paphos, with the Director and Chairman of the Cyprus Film Commission, Lefteris Eleftheriou, revealing that he has met with the officials who he said are also exploring the island as a filming destination for future projects.

“The Cyprus Film Commission recently approved three Roast on the Coast reality shows. The Danish version is currently filming in Paphos, with the Swedish and Norwegian versions following. This show is very popular in the Nordic countries, and all three are produced by Banijay, a leading company in the industry,” Elfetheriou told CBN.

And he added, “What's especially exciting is that Amazon Prime, one of the world's top streaming platforms, has chosen to invest in these shows. Their team is currently in Cyprus, exploring the island as a filming destination for future projects. While we’re hopeful this leads to more collaborations, we can't share further details at the moment.”

Roast on the Coast is a reality show that is particularly popular in the Nordic countries, which features a number of comedians who go on holiday and basically roast each other. In the previous season, which was broadcast last May, comedian, actress and writer Linda P invited five of Denmark's funniest comedians on a holiday in Marbella. Along she brought a suitcase with embarrassing ammunition from the comedians' past. Every evening, they would take turns in the hot seat to get roasted by their colleagues.

Cyprus Film Commission aims to go green

Meanwhile, the Cyprus Film Commission said it will be unveiling its Green Filming Policy soon. Though it is still being drafted and is subject to the approval of the Finance Ministry, Eleftheriou told CBN: “Sustainability and green filming are a top priority for the film industry. Every major film festival, forum, and event focuses on green policies. For this reason, the Cyprus Film Commission is committed to aligning with these important trends. We are exploring ways to implement effective policies that will help make Cyprus a green filming destination.”
