Wizz Air inaugurates 44 routes for winter season

Wizz Air has kicked off the Winter 2024 – 2025 season with an upgraded schedule launching and reintroducing over 40 routes across its network.

This winter, Wizz Air will be landing in the newly opened airport of Salerno, Italy, returning to base operations in Chisinau, Moldova, and unlocking unique destinations such as Sphinx (Cairo) and Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, Marrakesh in Morocco, Stuttgart in Germany from even more cities. In total, the airline will be operating over 600 routes in the winter season.

Wizz Air will provide over 28 million affordable seats on sale for its passengers this season, the largest ever winter capacity offer since the start of operations, spanning across Europe, North Africa, Middle East and Central Asia.

In the summer of 2024, the airline became the preferred choice of almost 40 million passengers, operating nearly 200,000 flights with a completion rate of 99.3%, one of the best in the industry, despite the challenging operational environment.

Furthermore, during the summer Wizz Air continued to enhance its product range and customer experience. The airline is now offering an upgraded portfolio of membership options, including All You Can Fly, WIZZ MultiPass in more markets, and Wizz Discount Club Premium. For passengers’ convenience, Wizz Air introduced Apple Pay and Google Pay payment options on its official app and started accepting Revolut cards for onboard purchases.

Finally, Wizz Air continued to maintain the lowest carbon emissions intensity in the industry with an average of 52.6 grams of CO2 per passenger/kilometer in the rolling 12 months[1]. Together with Airbus the airline is testing SAF operations ahead of the RefuelEU regulation set to go into force in January 2025.

Wizz Air’s Corporate Communication Manager, Olivia Harangozó, said: We are excited to be moving into our largest winter season so far, offering dozens of new routes for our customers to explore, including a brand new unique route to Cairo from Larnaca. Equipped with our ever-growing state-of-the-art fleet we continue to invest into enhancing our operational performance and customer experience, while maintaining the highest sustainability standards in the industry."
