Cyprus participated in GITEX Global 2024 with 14 tech companies

Cyprus’ Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry participated for the third consecutive year in the GITEX Global 2024 international exhibition on technology, which took place in Dubai between 14 and 18 October.

According to an announcement by the Ministry, the Cyprus pavilion, supported by the Cyprus Information Technology Enterprises Association (CITEA), hosted 14 pioneering technology companies operating in fields such as life sciences, artificial intelligence, cyber security, robotics and applied research.

In the “Tech Talk Sessions” at the exhibition, which attracted more than 200,000 visitors, Cypriot companies presented “their innovative technologies”, while, at the same time Cyprus’ Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology, Demetris Skourides, the Director of the Research and Innovation Foundation Theodoros Loucaides, the President of CITEA Demetris Nissiotis and the Commercial Counselor of Cyprus in Dubai Georgios Partasides, “highlighted the potential of the Cypriot technology industry.”

In addition, they noted Cyprus’ role “as an emerging technology hub in the Mediterranean, enhancing its image as an attractive destination for technology investments and collaborations,” it said.

The exhibition, it added, “also served as a platform for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nikodemos Damianou with Khazna Data Centers, the largest provider of data centers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).”

It notes that the Memorandum “strengthens Cyprus-UAE relations and strengthens the presence of our country as a technological innovation hub in the region.”

According to the announcement, the aim of the Ministry’s participation in GITEX is to promote the international presence of Cypriot technology companies and to strengthen bilateral collaborations with corresponding international companies.
