Meeting between founder of "Hope For Children" and Indian senior officials

A landmark meeting took place between the Founder and executives of international organisation “Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center (HFC) and a distinguished delegation of high-ranking Indian officials. The discussion aimed to strengthen collaboration on child rights and welfare, legal reforms, and child friendly justice.

The Indian delegation was composed of some of the most senior figures in the country's legal and diplomatic spheres. Present at the meeting were Mr Venkataramani, Attorney General of India; the Hon. Mr Suryakant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India; Mr Shri Manish, High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Cyprus; Prof. Sivakumar, President of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA); Mr Vikram Arya, Advocate of the Supreme Court of India; and Mr Subhash Kain, Second Secretary at the High Commission of India.

During the meeting, Andria Neocleous, Executive Director of HFC, and Marios Nicolaou, Coordinator at HFC, presented the delegation with an overview of the organisation's programs and services. They emphasised HFC's significant role in promoting child-friendly justice practices and providing multidisciplinary support to vulnerable children.

Discussions during the meeting centered on the shared commitment to the protection of children’s rights and the rule of law, with a particular emphasis on legal frameworks that safeguard minors. Both sides explored opportunities to collaborate on initiatives that focus on legal education and reform, the prevention of child exploitation, and providing children with better access to justice.

The Founder of Hope For Children, Mr Joseph Borghese, stressed the importance of international partnerships in addressing the global challenges that affect children, including poverty, migration, and abuse. In this context, the meeting was seen as a valuable opportunity to build bridges between Cyprus, India, and international legal bodies working towards child welfare.

The High Commissioner of India to Cyprus, Mr Shri Manish, underlined the significance of the meeting, which aligns with broader efforts to deepen India-Cyprus relations. He remarked, "Hope for Children is doing a commendable work in the field of rights of child and their protection and have developed best practices to create a safer and more just world for children. Indian NGOs can benefit from adopting such best practices. Linkages between our NGOs can add another dimension to robust relationships between our two countries."

Representatives from both sides concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to future collaborations and exchanges of expertise, particularly in the fields of child welfare advocacy, legal reforms, and educational initiatives.

The fruitful exchange between Hope For Children and Indian officials highlights the importance of cross-border partnerships in addressing complex global issues affecting children, ensuring that their rights remain at the forefront of legal, social, and political agendas worldwide.
