The Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, together with City Friends Club, a registered non-profit charity organisation, announced the opening of the company’s new office in Larnaca on 31 October.
This expansion marks an exciting step forward in the City Friends Club's mission to promote sustainable waste management and a cleaner environment across Cyprus.
City Friends Club will start its activities in Larnaca with monthly community cleanup events, with the first scheduled for 23 November, where Mayor Vyras will also join volunteers.
The new office will be staffed with a local manager and supported by a dedicated trash truck and driver to bolster waste collection efforts.
The organisation has plans to expand to daily street cleaning and roll out additional projects like Coffee Friends Club, Graffiti Friends Club, and the RE:SOURCE eco-art exhibition to engage the community further.
“The Municipality of Larnaca is excited to announce a partnership with City Friends Club,” said Vyras at a press conference held at the House of Letters and Arts. “Together, we will launch volunteer clean-up initiatives across beaches, parks, and public spaces to transform Larnaca into a cleaner, healthier city. This collaboration is an important step toward a sustainable future for our community and future generations.”
Anna Gubareva, founder and CEO of City Friends Club, expressed her excitement about expanding the organisation's impact. “The main driving force behind the creation of City Friends Club was a strong desire to live in a clean city and change people’s eco habits,” she said. “We believe loving a city means caring for its environment and promoting sustainable living.”
Gubareva continued, “We're proud to work with city authorities who support these goals, as we did in Limassol and, thanks to the support of businessman Theoklis Andreou, now in Larnaca. The mayor Andreas Vyras personally expressed interest in having our office in the city, which was a key factor for us. As we grow with the support of communities, local governments and our sponsors - eco-responsible companies, we’re inspired to keep moving forward. More cities in Cyprus are showing interest, and we’re committed to making them cleaner and better places to live.”
City Friends Club (СFC) actively engages in daily street cleaning, organises community cleanups and promotes eco-consciousness through a range of educational initiatives.
Since 2021, the team has been actively cleaning key areas across Limassol with six trucks and 15 cleaners, and hosting regular monthly cleanups for volunteers and corporate groups in parks, beaches, and other public spaces.
With professional cleaners and more than 3,000 volunteers engaged, CFC has collected 222,690 kg of garbage over the entire work period.
Educational efforts include the RE:SOURCE eco-art exhibition (4,000+ visitors in 5 days), public talks, and initiatives like Coffee Friends Club and Graffiti Friends Club, all designed to inspire sustainable practices and environmental awareness.
The City Friends Club app, available on iOS and Android, enables 800+ users to report illegal dump locations, track clean-up progress and earn rewards, helping СFС plan events and analyse pollution trends across Cyprus.
Supported by eco-responsible sponsors such as Flintera, Easy Brain, Palta, GDEV, Exness, The Island School, Lumio Private School, Puzzle point, Quadcode, Ecommpay, BSM, Adsterra, TheSoul Publishing, Unlimit, Oleg Netepenko and others, City Friends Club raised 2 million euros in the first three years of work. City Friends Club is continuously seeking new partners to expand its impact, including in Larnaca and Paphos.
