The Island Private School of Limassol is the finalist of World Architecture Festival Awards

Among hundreds of nominations, The Island Private School has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards in the "Future Project: Education" category. Last week, the school’s Founder, Alexander Shkuratov, and Nyasa Beale of Scott Brownrigg presented the groundbreaking concept in Singapore.

Designed by the world-renowned international architectural firm Scott Brownrigg, in partnership with Cyprus-based PPA (Panos Panayiotou and Associates), the new Education Hub will open as a cutting-edge, nature-inspired campus for over 2,200 students across pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools. It will also provide contemporary boarding facilities, along with extensive sports and state-of-the-art cultural amenities, benefiting both the school and the broader community.

The welcoming environment will address the needs of students, parents, teachers, entrepreneurs, and local communities fostering mutual support and collaboration. The project aims to strengthen Cyprus's esteemed status as a global hub for technology, innovation, progressive education, business and personal development.

Michael Olliff, Managing Director of Scott Brownrigg, stated, "The Island Private School provided an inspiring brief for a learning environment that nurtured global citizens with real connections to the natural world - the design responds to the diverse needs of the school community, and its stunning hillside site, to create a unique education hub at the heart of a new neighbourhood".

By blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, the design promotes well-being and encourages exploration and discovery. The incorporation of green spaces unifies the scheme and helps preserve local ecosystems, making it a model for sustainable education.

Alexander Shkuratov, the founder of the Island Private School of Limassol said: "The new school campus will be an international, cutting-edge facility designed to inspire creativity and innovation. Developed in collaboration with students, teachers, parents, and the community, this space will support the unique needs of International Baccalaureate, Waldorf, and Montessori education programs. Together, we've created an environment where young minds can thrive, explore, and lead in shaping the future."

The project creatively leverages the site’s impressive 30-meter elevation change, featuring dedicated areas and gathering spaces for different pedagogical approaches, such as Montessori, Waldorf, and the International Baccalaureate. The unique concept of vibrant, innovative "village" promotes a safe, diverse, and engaging environment for learners of all ages as well as teachers and experts with differing perspectives and will be open for community events.
