A look at the cities topping the real estate sales list so far this year

Real estate sales showed a marginal increase of only 1% in both October and in the first ten months of this year, following the losses of September.

Based on data from the Department of Lands and Surveys, the number of sales documents filed this October stood at 1,318 compared to 1,306 last October, while sales for the January-October 2024 period stood at 12,952 compared to 12,825 in the corresponding period last year.

Limassol, Nicosia and Larnaca move up

Limassol maintains its lead by a margin, with 402 real estate sales recorded in October 2024 compared to 383 in October 2023, marking an increase of 5%. On the contrary, in the first ten months of 2024 sales documents in Limassol fell by 3% to 4,093 compared to 4,225 in the corresponding period of 2023.

Nicosia continues to rise steadily, with 297 real estate sales this October compared to 292 last October, recording a 2% increase. For the period January - October 2024, sales in the capital increased by 18%, reaching 2,890 compared to 2,451 in the same period last year.

There was an 8% increase in property sales in Larnaca in October 2024, reaching 284 compared to 264 in October 2023. Regarding the first ten months of 2024, the number of sales documents in Larnaca stood at 2,781 compared to 2,612 in the first ten months of 2023, registering a rise of 6%.

Stabilisation in Paphos, losses in free Famagusta

Property sales in Paphos recorded a negligible 1% decline, reaching 272 in October this year compared to 275 last October, while for the first ten months of 2024 they decreased by 11% to 2,554 from 2,878 in the corresponding period last year.

The district of free Famagusta recorded the biggest losses (-32%), with 63 sales documents submitted in October 2024 compared to 92 in October 2023. At the same time, sales for the period January - October 2024 fell by 4% to 634 compared to 659 in the same period of 2023.
