Three business leaders share their recipe for HR management success

In a rapidly changing world, resilient leaders are the cornerstone of organisational success. Managing human resources now involves creating a culture of flexibility, empathy, and innovation.

Today's leaders must inspire their teams, adapt to uncertain conditions, and balance strategic goals with human well-being.

At the 23rd Leadership & Human Resource Management Conference, prominent business figures discussed how leaders can cultivate resilience to navigate continuous disruptions and lead with purpose.

Cyfield Group Director George Chrysochos emphasised that organisations must equip their staff with diverse skills; otherwise, they won't survive. He mentioned that his group trains its personnel through various programs and employs job rotation to broaden their skill sets.

"Organisations with multiple specialties are necessary; otherwise, they won't survive. We want our people to have skills in many areas, so we have many programs and make rotations, allowing our employees to move to other sectors of the company." He advised, "To survive, you must inspire your people and make them feel they have ownership. You should include them in the decision-making process."

Farah Shammas, Managing Director of St Raphael Resort & Marina, highlighted the importance of teamwork and addressing issues promptly, even if it requires making tough decisions, "Teamwork is important, so if someone in the organisation is 'poisoning' a department, it's time to move them or let them go."

She also stressed the need for open communication, "Encourage the team to speak up. Employees need to be heard."

Commenting on the new generation, she noted that what will make them successful is adding value to humanity through their work.

Philippos Soseilos, CEO & Chairman of PwC Cyprus, clarified that an organisation's resilience and success are not solely about financial performance but also about the well-being and development of its people.

"It's not just about financial results; it's about the well-being and development of our people. We need to create an environment where people feel safe, valued, and have opportunities to grow."

These insights underscore the evolving role of leadership in fostering resilient organisations capable of thriving amid constant change.
