Hungarian flavours and new business opportunities for Cypriot market

On November 20, 2024, the Hungarian Embassy in Nicosia hosted its first business event, shining a spotlight on Hungary’s food industry and its gastronomic specialties.

The event, titled “HUNGARIKUM-INNOVATION-HEALTH: Hungarian Gastronomic Heralds in Cyprus”, not only showcased the excellence of Hungarian products but also marked a new chapter in strengthening Hungarian-Cypriot economic and cultural relations.

Since the official opening of the Hungarian Embassy in April 2024, building economic and trade relations has taken also a central role alongside enhancing diplomatic ties.

The business event featured gastronomic specialties from five Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The event created an exceptional atmosphere, where Hungarian company representatives enthusiastically and expertly showcased their products. Meanwhile, Cypriot market and business participants had the chance to network informally and taste the outstanding offerings of the Hungarian companies.

It was particularly inspiring to witness the interest shown by the Cypriot business community in the showcased products. Feedback from attendees highlighted the impressive diversity and quality of the products, as well as their alignment with modern sustainability and health-conscious values.

Highlights of the event included:

  • ALL IN NATURAL FOOD with its vegan and clean-eating ingredients,
  • CAPSOLUTE offering premium capsule coffee solutions, with customizable private label solutions,
  • MY SPICY CUP with its unique spice blends for coffee and beverages,
  • ROYAL PATÉ with its luxury-quality foie gras products, and
  • SZAFI GROUP presenting health-conscious food items according to latest wellness trends.

Their products symbolize not only the fusion of tradition and modernity but also a strong commitment to sustainability and health consciousness, meeting the latest consumer and market trends.

The event was made possible through the so called “NEXT-KPI”, a program of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for foreign economic activities and the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency. Additionally, it was supported by HELL Beverages Limited, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Enterprise Europe Network Cyprus, and the Invest Cyprus.

As the event concluded, with participants sampling the Hungarian food and beverages, it became clear that this occasion was a symbol of strengthening Hungarian-Cypriot economic relations as well as a key milestone in building a bridge between the two nations’ cultures.

Overall, the event provided an unique opportunity for both sides to explore new dimensions of collaboration while offering a taste of the distinctive world of Hungarian gastronomy.
