Deputy Minister for Tourism Kostas Koumis will be travelling to London, heading a delegation in the context of the World Travel Market 2024, which takes place in the UK capital, Cyprus’ traditionally biggest tourism market.

The event is due to take place from 5 to 7 November.

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Ministry, Koumis will hold meetings with leading tourist companies, air carriers and tour operators and will also take part in a Ministerial meeting on the impact of artificial intelligence on tourism.

Koumis will be accompanied by Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Ministry and other officials.

Furthermore, over 50 Cypriot tourist companies and organisations, such as travel agencies, hotels and regional tourist development and promotion companies will take part in the WTM 2024 along the Cyprus Hoteliers Association, the Associations of Cyprus Tourist Enterprises and Hermes Airports, the company which operates Cyprus’ two airports.

The Cypriot kiosks at this year's WTM will feature the preparation of Cypriot delights, offered to visitors in collaboration with the Cyprus Chefs Association and long drinks based on the well-known Cypriot sweet wine Commandaria, in collaboration with the Cyprus Bartenders Association.

The UK has traditionally been Cyprus’ biggest tourist market with 1.13 million tourist visiting the island in the first nine months of 2024 marking an increase of 5% year on year, with the full year arrivals from the UK in 2023 amounting to 1.30 million.
