BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 held with success

BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 was successfully held at the IDEA Innovation Centre on 18 - 20 October. The number of registrations exceeded all expectations since more than 200 people and more than 25 teams participated. In the end, 18 teams presented their applications on the final day.

BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 is the fifth marathon for the development of innovative applications in the field of financial transactions (#fintech) that has been organised in Cyprus, by Bank of Cyprus. During the three-day marathon, the teams developed innovative applications related to the thematic areas of the Hackathon and great ideas and solutions came up.

BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 started on 18 October with the Kick Off Meeting, where the process and all the available resources & tools were explained to the participants. The teams worked on implementing their ideas, using new IT technologies, Jinius APIs BoC APIs and BoC SDK, on a process that was carried out throughout the three-day period.

The process was supported by 25 mentors.

The Winners

1st place and €5,000 went to Moctezuma: Real Time Utilised Real Estate Tokenisation and buy - sell process system

2nd place and €3,000 went to two Teams: Electra and Vasilkoff (Bank of Cyprus decided to award each team with €3,000)

Electra: The app combines real-time energy monitoring, making data available for the customers via comprehensive dashboards and BoC payment API integration, automating energy payments.

Vasilkoff: AI-Powered Instant Loan Approval in 1 Minute chat or voice, with customisable white-labelling for banks and retailers to enhance their brand and customer experience.

3rd place and €2,000 went to Pockit: An intelligent AI assistant designed to help you manage your savings effortlessly.

Best Use of Jinius APIs Award and €2,000 went to Memoirme: A SaaS that helps families and individuals celebrate life of their loved ones through digital memoirs.

Cyta Business powered the BOC hackathon with cutting-edge 50G-PON Hyperfast Broadband Internet infrastructure, delivering speeds up to 30Gbps.

University of Nicosia

The Scholarship was given to the first Team Moctezuma.

CYENS

Two dedicated seats at the CYENS TechHub, a cutting-edge co-working space tailored for startups, located in the vibrant centre of Nicosia, were given to team Electra.

C4E

The Award of Center 4 Entrepreneurship was given to Electra.

Microsoft

All teams were awarded Azure Credits.

Kyndryl

5 hours’ mentorship on Security went to Memoirme and Pick The Bank

Pick The Bank: A functionality enabling BoC to embed financial products offered by other financial institutions into BoC online banking.

BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 was implemented with organisational and technical support of Crowdpolicy and consulting support of Greek Fintech Cluster.
