Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou has discussed the work progress on the finalization of the Development and Production Plan for the Aphrodite gas field with Chevron's Vice President for International Exploration and Production Frank Cassulo.

The discussion took place in Abu Dhabi on 5 November on the sidelines of the ADIPEC 2024 International Energy Exhibition and Conference.

According to a Ministry statement, following the meeting, the Energy Minister stressed that "as agreed between the Republic of Cyprus and Chevron, consultations have been initiated to reach an arrangement that will ensure the development of the Aphrodite field without further delay", adding that in this context, "a productive meeting took place today with the Vice President of Chevron, during which the progress of the technical teams’ work involved in the project was discussed in order to finalise the Development and Production Plan for the Aphrodite field and the next steps."

For his part, Chevron's Vice President thanked the Energy Minister for the constructive discussion, which he described as another step by the Republic of Cyprus and Chevron towards promoting the development of the Aphrodite field.

"We look forward to continuing our close cooperation with the Republic of Cyprus and we want to continue to support the development of this important project, leveraging Chevron's expertise in the development of such projects," he concluded.
