George Theocharides: Cyprus is widely acknowledged as a very promising jurisdiction for investors

“Cyprus is widely acknowledged as a very promising jurisdiction for investors,” said George Theocharides, Chairman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

He was speaking at the 10th International Funds Summit & Expo in Nicosia, which was presented by the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and Invest Cyprus.

Addressing the hundreds of investors who gathered in Cyprus to attend the summit, Theocharides said the island’s success as an investment hub was down to a number of reasons, including its legal framework, which is “fully aligned with the EU regulations”.

A significant amount of existing investments is financing the real Cypriot economy, he said.

Theocharides warned investors to follow the new regulations when it comes managing investment funds, while he stood particularly at the new DORA regulatory framework, saying innovative solutions are crucial right now.

He also discussed the trends that are expected to shape investments in the future, and urged investors to keep up to date with all the new investment options arising in the constantly changing international financial landscape.
