House of Representatives and Cyprus Institute sign MoU for policy development

The House of Representatives and the Cyprus Institute confirmed their joint commitment to further deepen cooperation and the exploitation of scientific knowledge for the benefit of society through the development of appropriate policies, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding.

During the signing ceremony, President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, said that this development is a milestone for the legislative body of the country, as the Cyprus Institute invests systematically in research, innovation and excellence and can create new knowledge, which, she said, Cyprus needs.

"We also have a responsibility in the choices of citizens and we have to work even harder in this regard, utilizing the potential of institutions of the scientific community that can effectively contribute to the formulation of solutions to improve the operation of institutions and the quality of life of citizens," she pointed out.

On his part, the President of the Cyprus Institute, Dr. Stavros Malas, said that Cyprus has an important asset in the field of scientific excellence, which should not be left unexploited.

"In addition, the Cyprus Institute focuses on energy and climate change, and can make a substantial contribution to the legislative and executive branches of government in view of the Cyprus Presidency of the EU Council in 2026," Dr. Malas concluded.
