AUB Mediterraneo students go on a journey through history, mythology, and culture in Paphos

Students from American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo recently went on a journey through history, mythology, and culture during a day out at the Sanctuary of Aphrodite, the Archaeological Museum of Palaepaphos, and Aphrodite’s Rock.

As part of the 'Iliad' course, Dr Anthi Chrysanthou, special scientist and lecturer at AUB Mediterraneo, made Homer’s world come alive by connecting mythology, material culture, and ancient texts.

From exploring the ruins of the Cypriot Goddess Aphrodite’s sanctuary to discovering artefacts like a sarcophagus depicting scenes from the Trojan War, the students left feeling inspired by this immersive experience that made the ancient world tangible for them and enriched their learning.

“At AUB Mediterraneo, we are privileged to have incredible cultural heritage at our doorstep,” the university said on its social media. “Our innovative teaching approach combines classroom learning with real-world exploration to inspire and deepen knowledge.”
