DP World Limassol has succeeded in securing an automobile transit deal, Limassol port’s first such business in two decades.
The undertaking entailed handling about 10,000 new vehicles from Asia and about 7,000 new vehicles from other areas, that are stored temporarily at the Limassol terminal before they are reloaded for export to neighbouring markets, a relevent press release notes.
The deal followed extensive efforts by DP World Limassol in close coordination with the Cypriot government and local partners.
This is the first time in twenty years that the Limassol Port has handled a specific business as transit, opening new avenues for DP World Limassol’s local and regional markets.
By offering a competitive edge in quality services, swift turnaround times, and superior storage solutions, DP World Limassol successfully outmanoeuvred other regional ports to secure this business.
“We are proud to have secured this business, along with our public and private partners, again underscoring DP World Limassol's position as a leading service provider in the region,” said Simon Pitout, DP World Limassol CEO. “This partnership demonstrates our ability to provide top-tier transit logistics solutions but also highlights the strategic importance of Limassol Port in global and regional trade routes.”
“This development is expected to generate considerable benefits for the local economy, reinforcing DP World Limassol’s commitment to driving growth and innovation in Cyprus' maritime sector,” he added.
