Philip Morris Cyprus helps clean up the Pedieos River

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, Phillip Morris Cyprus recently successfully organised the cleanup of a section of the Pedieos River in the Lakatamia area.

"More than 40 people, including Philip Morris Cyprus employees and associates, as well as volunteers from non-governmental organisations, joined forces for a common goal: the preservation of natural beauty and the protection of local biodiversity. Plastics, aluminium, tires and other materials that burden the ecosystem were removed from the banks of the river, giving the area a new lease of life," a press release following the 10 December effort noted.

“Protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility. Through this action, we are sending the message that every small act can make a difference,” commented Grigoris Kamperis, General Manager of Philip Morris Cyprus & Malta.

"With this initiative, the company demonstrates its commitment to environmental sustainability and the support of the local community. Aligned with the Global Sustainable Development Goals, Philip Morris Cyprus is laying the foundation for a better and cleaner tomorrow," the press release continued, concluding, "This action is not just another step towards environmental protection, but a call for change. A call to everyone to think, act and become part of the solution for a world without plastic and other waste."
