Akis Tsekouras: Mastercard is very invested and believes a lot in the potential of Cyprus (video)

Cyprus is a fantastic place for innovation and fintech and there are several factors at play here, according to Akis Tsekouras, Cluster Lead of Mastercard Advisors for Central Eastern Europe, who told CBN at the Cyprus Fintech Summit that his company sees a lot of potential in the island.

“Mastercard is very invested and believes a lot in the potential of Cyprus, so it works with startups and major financial institutions to build a strong ecosystem,” he explained, adding that the company is working closely with the Cyprus government on policies that are welcoming to innovation in the fintech sector.

As for the factors that make Cyprus a key fintech hub, he said these include a very friendly regulatory and fiscal environment, which attracts investment, and a very skilled workforce with international mindsets.
