Events being organised to mark International Anti-Corruption Day

Since the passage of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in 2003, 9 December has been earmarked as the International Anti-Corruption Day.

The seriousness of problems and threats posed by corruption to the stability and security of societies cannot be understated, the Cyprus Integrity Forum noted in a relevant announcement to the press.

"Corruption undermines the institutions and values of democracy, ethical values and justice and jeopardises development and the rule of law. In our efforts to promote and strengthen measures to prevent and combat corruption efficiently and effectively, the Cyprus Integrity Forum is organising a number of events to raise public awareness around the International Anti-Corruption Day," the announcement continued, going on to list the below.

6 December 2024 - Recovering a Sense of Integrity

Workshop on the importance of integrity within organisations and ways to promote shared values and ethical decision-making featuring Dr Branka van der Linden and Ringo Gossler.

9 December 2024 - Apathy or Awakening Against Corruption Presentation of Research Findings & Discussion jointly organised by Cyprus Integrity Forum, Pyrgou Vakis Law Firm and the Fimonoi Research Foundation

17 December 2024 - Transparency in the National Health System – Health Manifesto

Round-table discussion from healthcare professionals on checks and balances of the System , based on the findings of the Health Manifesto, which has recently been co-signed with the Ministry of Health, and ways of materialising its conclusions.

"These events aim at raising public awareness, promoting integrity and highlighting the importance of transparency in the fight against corruption in various sectors," the Cyprus Integrity Forum's announcement concluded.
