Logo to mark Cyprus’ 20 years in the EU unveiled

A logo marking the 20th anniversary since Cyprus joined the EU has been unveiled.

It was revealed on the evening of 12 February in the presence of Germany’s President during a state banquet at the Presidential Palace.

The logo was designed by the Cyprus Press and Information Office and will be used in all events and activities of the Republic of Cyprus in the context of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of accession of the European Union, an official press release said 13 February.

It noted that the logo has a modern, minimalist design. The left half of the design has the initials "EU"  in blue, which symbolizes the dominant color of the EU flag. The right half of the design is divided into two parts. At the top is the number "20" and at the bottom is the word "CYPRUS" (Cyprus) with the colours of the flag of the Republic of Cyprus. The number "20" is written in orange to symbolise the copper that was abundant on the island, while the word "CYPRUS" is written in the green of olive branches which symbolises peace, it added.

He noted that this anniversary, as well as the visit of the President of Germany, are an opportunity to celebrate our European identity.
