Wizz Air is accelerating its network growth with the delivery of its 200th aircraft.
According to a relevant press release from the airline, the new Airbus A321neo will be based at London Luton and signals the airline’s continued confidence in the UK market. The aircraft’s inaugural flight departed London Luton to Bacău in Romania.
Valued at over €100m, the aircraft will help deliver passengers to 59 destinations from London Luton, including the recently announced routes to Salzburg, Austria and Cairo, Egypt.
The Airbus A321neo aircraft incorporates the latest technology and offers significant environmental benefits. The aircraft can currently fly with up to 50% SAF blend, provides a nearly 50% reduction in noise, a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions and 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions, the press release notes. The new aircraft will take the average age of Wizz Air’s UK fleet from 2.07 years to 1.97 years, making it the youngest in Europe, according to the airline.
Following record passenger numbers in 2023, Wizz Air is continuing to grow its network. The airline has more than 300 A321neo aircraft on order, the press release also revealed.
