FinMin and Research Dep. Minister agree to cooperate to promote digital transition

Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos and Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou, discussed ways of productive cooperation between the two institutions in order to promote the digital transition.

In statements after the meeting, the Minister of Finance said that the digital transition is a "basic political direction" of the Government, which is "included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan".

He also noted that together with the Deputy Minister they discussed "issues of cooperation between the two Ministries and defined the way in which there will be a productive cooperation on all these issues which are a priority for the Government".

For his part, Nicodemos Damianou said that he informed the Minister of Finance about the actions planned by the Deputy Ministry in the field of digital transition.

The goal of the digital transition and the modern competitive digital state, "is horizontal, it is a multidimensional and complex goal and we all need to work to achieve it and certainly the views and assistance of the Ministry of Finance are of decisive importance", Deputy Minister of Research noted.

Replying to a question about the electronic justice system eJustice Nicodemos Damianou stated that its evaluation has begun, in collaboration with a private company and also with the Cyprus Bar Association.

Replying to a question about the Cyber Security Action Plan, which was announced by his predecessor, Damianou said that this matter was discussed in today’s meeting with Makis Keravnos but noted that not much can be said as it "relates to a sensitive sector".
