Wassim El Hajj on why Cyprus was at the top of the list when AUB decided to expand in the region

Academic freedom, overall stability, its attractiveness to foreigners—and students in particular—were just some of the reasons the American University of Beirut decided to create a campus in Cyprus, Rector Wassim El Hajj has revealed.

Speaking to the camera as part of Invest Cyprus’ Working & Living in Cyprus Series on YouTube, the Rector also noted the island’s good weather and friendly environment, while underlining the many similarities between Cyprus and Lebanon.

Revealing more about the University’s impressive history, he also suggested what steps could be taken to make Cyprus even more attractive as an education hub.
