#LikeALocalCy: The new campaign by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism showcases Cyprus through the eyes of the locals

The Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Cyprus Agrotourism Company, in collaboration with Action Cyprus, is launching a new social media campaign, #LikeALocalCy, to present another side of Cyprus to the island’s visitors and its residents: the locals’ point of view.

A press release on the initiative notes, "In recent years, it has become apparent that many travelers wish to live like locals when visiting a destination, avoiding tourist activities and seeking out more authentic experiences. And who better to offer tips, unveil 'hidden' attractions, and share a place's secrets than its actual locals."

With this insight in mind, the new campaign calls for Instagram users to upload a photo showcasing one of our island’s less-known treasures, using the hashtag #LikeALocalCy and tagging the Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s official Instagram account, @visitcypruscom and @cyprusagrotourism. The photos will be collected on https://woobox.com/k3fx49 where the public can vote for their favourites. The three photos that receive the most votes will win Agrotourism accommodation vouchers worth up to €200 each. Plus, the “local” with the top-voted photograph will take over the Deputy Minstry’s Instagram account @visitcypruscom for a day and share more of Cyprus’s gems with the public.

"The #LikeALocalCy campaign will be on air until the end of April, so there is no time to waste! Grab your smartphone and take a photo of your favourite picturesque alleyway, the beach that you fell in love with, the village square where you used to spend your childhood holidays or any other place that makes Cyprus special. Together, we can show the world another aspect of our homeland: one that is closest to our hearts!," the press release concludes.
