Marios Tannousis: Cyprus is the ideal hub for tech companies

Cyprus is the ideal hub for tech companies, being a bridge between Europe, Asia and Africa, and despite its proximity to the Middle East, the island has not been affected by the turmoil, instead emerging as the most solid option in the region, Invest Cyprus CEO Marios Tannousis told a tech summit in Limassol.

Addressing the 2nd Cyprus The New Global Tech & Innovation Hub Summit, Tannousis said Cyprus was currently at a critical juncture, as the national Vision 2035 strategy aims to develop a dynamic and robust economy, underpinned by research, innovation and technology.

Highlighting the ICT sector’s significant contribution to the country’s GDP, Tannousis said the direct impact on the economy was not only evident by the thousands of well-paid new jobs on the market, but also the international rating agencies’ upgrades and positive outlook.

“The aim today is to solve all your questions,” he told the summit’s participants. “The Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy will outline the government’s vision. Seasoned entrepreneurs will share their stories about what makes Cyprus an ideal destination for startups and tech companies.”

The discussions, he added, will cover essential topics, like legal frameworks, understanding the financial landscape and leveraging tech infrastructure that supports new relocating companies.
