Chief Scientist urges potential investors: Start, develop and grow your business in Cyprus

Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology Demetris Skourides urged potential investors to start, develop and grow their business in Cyprus, as it seeks – through its Cyprus Vision 2035 – to become one of the best countries in the world to live, work and do business.

Addressing the 2nd Cyprus: The New Global Tech & Innovation Hub Summit in Limassol, Skourides said Cyprus aimed to reach its strategic goals through continuous reforms, supporting investors and entrepreneurs, and incentives.

He said the aim of the government was to promote e-governance, modernise infrastructure and develop smart city solutions. He also said that the island’s connectivity is one of its main advantages while it also fosters emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain.

He said an effort was underway currently to increase the island’s specialised human capital, as well as re-educate and upgrade the skills of existing tech personnel in a bid to create a strong tech ecosystem for the future.

Concluding, he referred to the financial tools on offer aimed at accelerating this progress.
