Deputy Minister of Shipping visits China for ship naming ceremony and contacts

The Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis visited Guangzhou in China from 25 to 27 April, where she attended the naming ceremony of the newly-built cargo ship ' AAL Limassol. '

The ship belongs to AAL Shipping, a member of the Schoeller Holdings group of companies, owned by Heinrich Schoeller. The ship has been built to the highest standards and modern environmental specifications and will be included on the Register of Cyprus Ships, an announcement from the Deputy Ministry noted.

Hadjimanolis, in her speech during the naming ceremony of the ship, especially thanked Heinrich Schoeller for his long-term support and contribution to the development of Cypriot shipping, and addressing the local shipping community, elaborated on the advantages and services provided by the registration of ships under the Cypriot flag.

On the sidelines of the events, the Deputy Minister of Shipping had the opportunity to meet and talk with executives representing shipping companies, shipping agencies, financial institutions as well as local officials of the Guangzhou provincial administration.

A bilateral meeting was also held with the President of COSCO Shipping Bulk, the largest shipping company managing cargo ships, where the prospects of registering ships of the company's fleet on the Cyprus registry were discussed.

The Deputy Minister of Shipping was accompanied to Guangzhou by the Ambassador of Cyprus to China, Frances-Galatia Lanitou Williams.
