Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou has departed for Tokyo, Japan, where he will participate as head of a business delegation in the Cyprus-Japan Business Forum on 9 April.

The event is being co-organised by the Ministry of Energy, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Republic of Cyprus Trade Centre in Tokyo.

According to an official announcement, the Minister will present during the Forum to Japanese businessmen the competitive advantages of Cyprus as an international business centre, as well as opportunities for cooperation in specific sectors that present the most favourable prospects for developing activities and strengthening partnerships with Japan, with emphasis on shipping, information and communication technologies and services. At the same time, Cypriot companies participating in the business mission will have the opportunity to hold pre-arranged B2B meetings with their Japanese counterparts.

During his stay in the Japanese capital, Papanastasiou is also scheduled to have a private meeting with the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Taku Ishii, while he will also visit the international maritime exhibition Sea Japan, which will be held in Tokyo between 10 and 12 April and in which the Ministry, together with the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, will participate with an information booth.
