The rebranding of Cyprus is moving ahead - The actions to be taken, the sectors and countries under focus

Invest Cyprus has proceeded with announcing the tender for the company that will undertake “reintroducing” our country to the international community as an ideal business and investment destination.

The action follows relevant declarations on the rebranding of Cyprus made by the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides.

The announcement of the tender competition in question comes as a continuation of a series of other actions that the Government is already taking, while the specific effort was announced by President Christodoulides about three weeks ago during the awarding ceremony of the 16th IN Business Awards.

"Within the next few weeks, following a decision by the Government, Invest Cyprus will launch a major campaign for the rebranding of our country. An action in which we want you as partners, we want you as fellow travelers," the President of the Republic had said.

The purpose of the tender, with an estimated value of €1.5 million, is to reach an agreement with a company for the provision of branding consultancy services, strategic communication services, public relations and other related activities with a focus on international markets, which will facilitate the development, management and strengthening the Cyprus brand and will support Cyprus’ long-term ‘Vision 2035.’

The ultimate goal, as InBusinessNews understands, is the restoration of the country's reputation in the international community, the promotion of Cyprus as a reliable business and investment centre and ultimately the attraction of further investments.

Integrated actions of strategic importance for the country

As InBusinessNews has been informed, the rebranding of Cyprus will include a series of comprehensive actions of strategic importance for the country.

Initially, the main goal is to restore the reputation of Cyprus and then to focus on the economic development that the country presents.

Subsequently, and as a result of the above, it will emerge that Cyprus is an investment and business centre, which in turn will attract further investments.

In particular, to achieve the above, coordinated actions will be carried out such as:

  • Update of foreign media, as well as missions of journalists from abroad to Cyprus.
  • Strategic missions of Cyprus abroad and organisation of events.
  • Targeting Cyprus promotions related to rebranding and communication.
  • Crisis preparedness.

Through these actions, the objective set by Invest Cyprus is to attract investments from all sectors of the economy.

However, the priorities set are to attract investments from:

High-tech, innovation, research and development, energy, health, education, shipping companies and supervised services such as investments in finance, insurance and banking, as well as investment funds and fund management.

The focus will be on European Union countries, mainly large economies such as Germany and France.

They will also target other countries that invest in Cyprus, such as the USA, countries of the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf, Israel and India.

The announcement of the public tender

The open tender for the rebranding of Cyprus was announced by Invest Cyprus in eProcurement, on 10 May.

The title of the announcement is ‘Branding, Stategic Communication, Public Relations Services focusing on International Markets for the development of a Brand for Cyprus.’

The description is as follows: “The provision of services for the delivery of Branding Consultancy Services, Strategic Communication Services, Public Relations services and other related activities focusing on International Markets which shall facilitate the development, management and enhancement of the brand of Cyprus and supporting Cyprus’ long term Vision2035, falling under categories 79416000, 79416100 and 79416200 of the CPV classification.”

As stated in the tender announcement - and as mentioned above -, Invest Cyprus is essentially looking for the company that will provide branding consultancy services, strategic communication services, public relations and other related activities with a focus on international markets, which will facilitate development, managing and strengthening the Cyprus brand and will support Cyprus' long-term "Vision 2035".

The estimated value of the campaign is €1.5 million and tenders will be accepted until 10 June.

After the deadline, Invest Cyprus will evaluate the applications, taking in serious account the experience of the company/organization in similar projects abroad.
