House President and Cyprus Union of Ship Owners discuss shipping challenges

House of Representatives President, Annita Demetriou, and a delegation from the Cyprus Union of Ship Owners discussed the challenges and issues associated with the shipping sector. During the meeting, Demetriou expressed the House of Representatives' readiness to contribute in every constructive manner to the Union's work.

Some of the topics discussed at the 16 May at the Parliament meeting revolve around challenges for Cyprus shipping, EU policies for pollutants, the future of ocean lines shipping, the enlargement of the Cypriot registry, general economy, as well as the prospects for Cyprus shipping, following the solution of the Cyprus issue, for the benefit of all communities on the island, a House of Representatives press release said.

Demetriou underlined the significance of further growth of the shipping sector in Cyprus and expressed readiness, on behalf of the House as well, to contribute to the work of the Cypriot Shipowners' Union.
