International and local experts address the 7th Cyprus HealthCare Conference (pics)

Expert speakers from Cyprus and around the world addressed the recent 7th Cyprus HealthCare Conference in Nicosia.
The aim of the 16 May event, which was held in Greek and English, was to analyse the healthcare market, both in the private and public sector, while making predictions for the years to come.
As noted in the run up to the Conference, rapid advances in technology, the changing needs of an aging population, inflationary pressures and economic challenges are profoundly changing the health sector worldwide.
In Cyprus, the General Healthcare System is called upon to develop into an advanced tool for the provision of medical services through a holistic approach that does not include difficulties in operational coordination.
The international and local experts shared their forecasts for the health sector and how will the private and public sector in Cyprus can best meet the demands of the citizens.
Speakers during the first half of the proceedings included Health Minister Michael Damianos, Dr. Christos Petrou of the School of Life and Health Sciences at the University of Nicosia, Robert Yates of the Centre for Universal Health, Clatham House, Dr. George Pamboridis, of the law firm Pamboridis LLC, Dr. Monica Kyriacou of the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO), Dr. George Pantelas, of the State Health Services Organisation and Panos Petrou of Ygia Polyclinic Private Hospital.
Speakers and coordinators during the second part of the event included Peter Moll MD of Amazon Web Services (AWS,) Vered Aharonson of the University of Nicosia Medical School, Christina Kokkalou of IMR/University of Nicosia, Charalambos Papadopoulos of Cyprus Federation of Patients' Associations, Andreas L. Papaconstantinou of the HIO, Kypros Stavrides of the State Health Services Organisation, Dr, Marinos Soteriou of the Cyprus Private Doctors Association, Marianna Fortoma of Ygia Polyclinic Private Hospital, Andreas Papadopoulos of Hellenic Bank and Iacovos P. Ghalanos of KPMG in Cyprus.
The Conference was well-attended by members of the scientific community, doctors and business leaders representing medical centers, clinics and hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, commercial companies of medical equipment and from the entire chain of the health sector, who discussed their predictions and plans for this large and important sector.
