CMMI completes first phase of study under EFFECTIVE project

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) has announced the completion of the first phase of the novel Pilot study conducted in Cyprus under the EFFECTIVE project.

The deployment of the mooring stations which will also serve as underwater observatories for the restoration actions led by CMMI has been completed.

The Pilot aims to test the efficiency of novel Nature-Based Solutions for restoring threatened coral populations within the Cavo Greco Marine Protected Area in Cyprus.

“Warm thanks to Brasal Marine & Diving Services and Petronav Ship Management Ltd for their services and invaluable collaboration,” CMMI said on its social media.

The EFFECTIVE project aims to develop a comprehensive scientific knowledge base and practical guidance, merging science, technological nature-based solutions, digitisation, and social implication. The pilot areas - Mar de l'Empordà, Ebro Delta, Sardinia Septentrional, and Cavo Greco - are paving the way for innovative protection and restoration solutions.
