Limassol Greens Golf Resort has announced a significant milestone in its development: it has started grassing the first golf holes.
“After two years of meticulous construction, the resort is entering its final phase, with the initial grassing starting on holes 5 and 6,” Limassol Greens by Lanitis Golf Public Co Ltd said on its LinkedIn.
“With sustainability and water preservation in mind Limassol Greens chose Bermuda Tahoma 31, a specific type of grass developed by leading turf scientists at Oklahoma State University, known for its improved drought resistance. Consequently this special grass has a deep root system and depends on a reduced amount of water to maintain healthy growth, meaning that Limassol Greens will be saving large amounts of water for maintenance purposes.”
Set within a natural wetland, holes 5 and 6 are anticipated to be among the most thrilling and picturesque on the course, it said, promising an unparalleled golfing experience, blending challenging play with the serene beauty of Cyprus’ natural landscape.
“The shaping of the fairways, pot bunkers, tees and greens has been an extensive and intricate process,” said Andrew Halifax, Golf Superintendent at Limassol Greens Golf Resort. “With the grassing of Bermuda grass now underway, we are excited to see our vision come to life.”
The complete grassing of the 18-hole Championship course, which has been designed by the master architect Cabell Robinson, is scheduled to be finished by October, setting the stage for Limassol Greens to welcome its first players next summer.
This final phase of development of the golf course includes the completion of the Clubhouse and marks the culmination of years of planning, dedication, and investment in creating a world-class golf destination, the company said.
“Limassol Greens Golf Resort is poised to become a premier golfing venue in Cyprus, offering an exceptional blend of challenging play, stunning scenery, and luxury amenities,” the company said.
“The resort will not only cater to avid golfers but also provide a haven for those seeking a tranquil retreat in one of Cyprus’s most beautiful regions with a luxurious portfolio of residences.”
