Labour Minister in Geneva for ILO General Conference

Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Yiannis Panayiotou is in Geneva, heading a delegation of the social partners to the 112th Session of the General Conference of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

A press release issued by the Ministry said that he will address the plenary session of the Conference on the need for a new social contract and the founding session of the Global Alliance for Social Justice on strengthening social dialogue for the well-being of the society.

Panayiotou will also meet with the ILO Director General and will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts, as well as with leaders of European and international employers' and trade unions.

He is also set to meet with ILO technocrats to promote pension reform and strengthen the competence of wages, in accordance with government policy, the press release noted.
