The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) has signed a research and development agreement to co-develop a pioneering micro-AUV swarm system integrated into nature-based artificial reefs with Arkeocean, Lanego, and SignalGeneriX Ltd.
A LinkedIn post by CMMI said it was “Thrilled to announce a significant milestone in marine and maritime innovation!”
“CMMI, together with Arkeocean, #Lanego, and SignalGeneriX Ltd have signed yesterday a research and development agreement to co-develop 'EONIOS', a pioneering micro-AUV swarm system integrated into nature-based artificial reefs.
The signing ceremony took place at Eurosatory, the global defense exhibition in Paris, with the presence of government officials from France and Cyprus. This agreement builds on a recently signed two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance cooperation in marine research and innovation.
'EONIOS' is a state-of-the-art micro-AUV swarm system, designed to explore and protect our oceans. Featuring AUV docking stations integrated into nature-based artificial reefs, with surface buoys for solar power, EONIOS aims to enhance marine ecosystems and preserve biodiversity.
This innovative technology represents a significant step forward in marine conservation using swarms of #AUVs,” the post concluded.
SignalGeneriX Ltd is a leading Cypriot company in the field of electronics development while Arkeocean is a French technology leader in the field of swarms of AUVs, and Lanego is a French consulting firm for international development.
