MPs Panikos Leonidou (head), Marinos Mousiouttas and Elias Myrianthous, members of the Cypriot delegation to the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy (IAO), are in Italy to participate in an IAO’s delegation visit to the Greek communities of Sicily, between25 and 27 June and then at the 31st IAO General Assembly to take place in Palermo, on 28 and 29 June.

According to a House of Representatives press release, the General Assembly will discuss the new role that IAO is called to play, based on the conclusions of the Assembly's International Political Conference, which took place in Thessaloniki, last month, on the topic "Politics as a space for expression of Christian values in everyday life."

During their visit to the Greek communities of Sicily, the MPs will have meetings with state and religious bodies and will visit places of religious and cultural interest.

As part of the visit, there will also be presentations of IAO’s special edition entitled "Hagia Sophia: The Churches of the Wisdom of God around the world", on 26 June, at the City Hall of Messina and on 29 June at the Regional Assembly of Sicily, in Palermo.
