Industrial production rises by an annual 8.2% in April

Cyprus industrial production in April 2024 rose by an annual 8.2% driven by all sectors of the industry, CySTAT has reported.

The Industrial Production Index reached 106,8 units.

For the period January – April 2024, the index recorded an increase of 5.9% compared to the respective period of last year.

According to CySTAT, the manufacturing sector registered an increase of 7.3% year on year, whereas annual gains were also recorded in the sectors of mining and quarrying with 36.9%, water supply and materials recovery with 31.2% and electricity supply with 2.1%.

In the manufacturing sector, the most significant annual gains were recorded in the manufacturing of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment with 21.3%, machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and other transport equipment with 19.1%, basic metals and fabricated metal products with 16.6%.

Furthermore, furniture and repair/installation of machinery and equipment rose by 13.3%, rubber and plastic products with 8%) and wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture rose by 7.8%.
