Larnaca’s new corporate identity – a landmark for the town’s tourism industry

The Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Board (ETAP Larnaca) has presented the town’s new corporate identity, with Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis describing the event as a “landmark” for the town’s tourism industry.

As he said, Larnaca’s new corporate identity has been designed to reflect the town’s true identity and the special characteristics of the region, which include a rich history, local cuisine and the adoption of sustainable practices.

“Today marks a landmark for the tourism sector of the town and district of Larnaca, as through its rebranding, ETAP Larnaca is attempting to communicate a new, special picture of the tourism product of this beautiful destination with its exciting industry,” said Koumis. “Creating a new corporate identity in a destination whose tourism infrastructure is constantly being upgraded is more than imperative, given the ever-increasing competition in the tourism industry.”

He described the new logo that has been created for Larnaca as "smart", as it "presents in a smart and functional way those elements that are intertwined with the destination, functional, but also easy to use, in the sense that it can be reproduced in various forms”.

Koumis added that "rebranding is not just changing a logo or an advertising slogan, it is much more; it is a collective effort and a willingness to restart, which is why it is important that the effort is embraced by all who make up the tourism ecosystem of the destination”.

The deputy minister said the town and district of Larnaca was of significant archaeological, historical and touristic importance, as it is among the very few towns in the world that has an ongoing history spanning 4,000 years. This, he said, is evident in the many exhibits in its museums, archaeological sites, as well as its architecture and traditions.

"Another comparative advantage Larnaca has over most other cities is its proximity to the international airport and the port," he noted.

These elements, he continued, "combined with the rich history and tradition, the culture, as well as its beautiful, organised beaches, as well as the culinary options it offers, make Larnaca an all-year attractive destination, ideal for any visitor”.

Koumis added: “The important monuments of world interest, such as the Holy Church of Agios Lazarus, the Hala Sultan mosque, the ancient settlement of Choirokoitia as well as the picturesqueness of the Mountain Communities of the Larnaca province – such as Lefkara, which, in 2021, was awarded by the World Tourism Organisation as one of the most beautiful tourist villages in the world – are just some of the elements that make Larnaca a pole of attraction for thousands of visitors, Cypriots and foreigners.”
