AEGEAN carried 4.4 million passengers in Q2

AEGEAN carried 4.4 million passengers during the second quarter of 2024, recording an 8% increase in passenger traffic and reached a total of 7.3 million passengers during the first half of the year, resulting a 9% increase compared to last year.

In the second quarter of the year, AEGEAN offered 5.4 million seats, 9% more than in 2023, while for the whole year the airline will offer more than 19.8 million seats, nearly 6% more than previous year.

The balanced growth in passenger traffic recorded on both the domestic and the international network derives from the increased traffic at the Athens International Airport, already established as a key hub for international long haul flights arriving from non – EU markets, and by the increased connectivity between Greece and other main European hubs with similar activity (London, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Dubai), which serve as connecting point with island destinations via the AEGEAN domestic network.

AEGEAN's international passenger traffic to and from Athens, that reached 13% increase, builds upon the company’s decision to further invest with increased capacity and frequencies to/from European hubs and key international markets, such as Germany, the UK, Cyprus, Turkey, the Gulf area and the Baltics. Passenger traffic to/and from Thessaloniki “Makedonia” Airport increased also by 12% during the second quarter, as more than 500k passengers were carried via AEGEAN’s international network during the first half of 2024, thus proving that Thessaloniki is steadily growing into a year‑round destination.

AEGEAN increased frequencies on flights to/from London, Heathrow (from 3 to 4 daily flights), to/from Istanbul (up to 4 daily flights), Paris, Rome, Frankfurt (from/to Athens, from/to Thessaloniki) and Cyprus, where the company’s new Business Lounge at Larnaca International Airport opened its gates just a few days ago. Additional weekly flights to/from Munich, Berlin, Vienna and Madrid were also added, while in June AEGEAN commenced 3 new direct international routes connecting Athens with Vilnius, Palermo, Sarajevo. Two new domestic direct routes also inaugurated connecting Thessaloniki with Naxos and Heraklion with Kalamata.
