Nicosia CCI discusses bilateral cooperation strengthening with Chinese Ambassador

The Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cyprus, Liu Yantao, accompanied by members of the Embassy's diplomatic staff, with the two sides discussing ways to further strengthen cooperation.

According to a statement, Chamber President Michalis Moushouttas, welcoming the Chinese Ambassador, said that for 50 years, Cyprus and China's relations have been continuously strengthened with deep roots and strong ties based on shared values and mutual respect.

"We are proud of our close cooperation in trade and industrial matters and look forward to continuing and strengthening this cooperation. China is an important strategic partner for Cyprus and our Chamber is dedicated to promoting and expanding these economic and trade ties. As Nicosia Chamber we believe that there is great potential for further development and cooperation in various sectors such as technology, artificial intelligence, industry, infrastructure, research, education, medicine and tourism”, he noted.

Moushouttas concluded by expressing his belief that through dialogue and cooperation mutual benefits can be achieved and a brighter future for our economies can be created.

It is added that the Chinese Ambassador also referred in detail to the economic and trade cooperation between Cyprus and China, the inter-state agreements between the two countries and the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence as the basic rules that guide relations between the two countries.

This was followed by an extensive discussion and exchange of views on ways to further strengthen relations and specific ways of cooperation between the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chinese Embassy, the statement concludes.
