Nikos Potamaris named new CFA Society Cyprus President

The Chartered Financial Analysts Society of Cyprus has elected Nikos Potamaris as its new President, while also making changes to its Board of Directors during its recent General Assembly.
According to an announcement after the 15 July meeting, the new Board of Directors consists of seven members, all with many years of experience in the financial sector.
Nikos Potamaris was elected President, taking over from Andreas Cleanthos, while Vice President Constantinos Kourouyiannis was re-elected, the announcement said.
The Board of Directors is completed by Natalie Philippou (Secretary and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Chair), Eugene T. Tarakanov (Treasurer), Jan-Hofmeyr Retief (University Relations & Research Challenge Chair), Andreas Spyridis (Advocacy Chair) and Alexandros Klappas (Financial Literacy Chair) as Members.
Assuming his duties, the new President, together with the new Board of Directors of CFA Society Cyprus, stated that: "As a new Board of Directors, we will contribute with our diverse knowledge and expertise to the continued strengthening and development of our Society. In the coming months, through a series of initiatives and actions, mainly through the upcoming key events, we will seek to develop relationships and common goals between CFA Institute, our Society, local Supervisory and other Authorities, as well as Universities. Also, the Association will offer support to holders and candidates for obtaining the CFA Charter title, as well as to companies promoting the acquisition of this title. Our social contribution will be strengthened by actions in favour of combating financial illiteracy, mainly by training secondary school students in relevant subjects. We will offer training and internships to local university students in financial analysis, as well as job search support. At the same time, we will seek to achieve the goals of diversity, equality and inclusion in the working reality of the financial sector, as well as the practical adoption of a high-level code of ethics, continuous training and professionalism, for the benefit of the wider society."

It equips participants with important knowledge of international markets, enabling them to perceive and effectively exploit future economic opportunities.
CFA Society Cyprus Committees
Diversity, Equity Committee and Inclusion: deals with issues of inclusion, diversity and equality at work and society in general.
Financial Literacy Committee: Focuses on actions to educate young people in financial concepts and similar issues.
Advocacy Committee: Contributes to the promotion of ethical values and professionalism in the financial sector, while in collaboration with the Supervisory Authorities it contributes to the development of regulatory guidelines and a monitoring framework in the financial community.
University Committee Relations and Equity Research Challenge: Aims to strengthen relations with Cypriot universities as well as organizes, with the participation of students from these universities, an annual competition in the financial analysis and valuation of company shares, and then supports the winning team in international CFA competitions Institute .
CFA Society Cyprus
The CFA Society Cyprus is an independent, not-for-profit Association, whose members are approved CFA title holders Charter and/or are members of the CFA Institute ( CFA Institute ) based in the USA. To obtain and maintain the CFA designation Charter must have passed three levels of examinations organized by the CFA Institute , have completed at least 4000 hours of work in the financial sector, have secured three professional recommendations and adhere to the CFA code of ethics and professional conduct Institute.
